Comic of the Week 12/28/2009

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and didn't get a ton a snow like we did here. The roads are a bit slick, but we're all fine. You all have a great New Years too in "Internet Land"!

MOVIE NIGHT COMIC (Original posting: 2/20/2009)

Maybe some movies are better left unmentioned in public...especially if one of them is your favorite!

Coty really wants a date with Jenni...but good ol' VHS saves the day for Jen!

Poor Coty...He just needs to get with the times!

Comic of the Week 12/18/2009

Sorry for the delay of posts last week. I had finals to do, and I had my wisdom teeth taken out last Friday.

Original Posting: 2/19/2009

Here's a comic just noting out the different pronunciations of words depending on what accent someone has...(J.Q. has an Aussie accent, while Coty has a more Americanized one)

Comic of the Week 12/14/2009

ORIGINAL POSTING: 2/15/2009

J.Q.'s gotta learn someday...

I drew this as a joke to my friend from Australia, Trisha, when she said it's not a good pick-up line. It's still funny though!

Integris Baptist Project

I am currently in the Video Game Programming & Animation at Rose State College. It is a fairly new program...only about 3 or so years old. I have already earned my Associates degree last summer in only one year, because I had a previous Associates from OCCC, and some of the classes transferred over. They will soon be adding on a Bachelor's degree to their program through OSU Tech, and hopefully it will start this fall. So in the mean time, I'm taking new classes and others that are being rewritten do to more available information and research.

This past June, Integris Baptist got a message about our program and thought it was a good idea for us to come up with some games and a tour for their new Cancer Research building that just opened up. So our professor talked to a few of us: Me, Mark, Jojo, and Jordan. We brainstormed and came up with a few ideas.

Mark is currently working on a game which is basically cleaning tissue cells from spreading globs of cancer. Basically you rotate around the tissue sphere while shooting radiation beam and other projectiles to "clean" each cell from the cancer.

Jojo and Jordan are coming up with a traditional card game idea using the doctors, their skills, and equipment. I think it'll have similar rules to the "Magic" cards.

The professor is working on creating a tour of the building for people, while I'll be making a scavenger hunt/maze game. It'll be a side-view seek and find style play. The goal of the game is to find all the pieces of the Proton-gun (which is a new feature at the Cancer Research Center). Robots have taken each piece to a different location of the building and the player must find a way to overcome obstacles, i.e. for boxes in the middle of the path, you must find a crowbar or dolly, for wet floors, find a mop, locked doors, you must find a key, etc. Then after all of the pieces have been found, the player must fit them in the right order to win. I may put in some robot fighting too.

I've made a test character, which may become THE character for the game. His name is Wilbur Wolfe, and he's a runner...

We're hoping to get everything done by Spring Break of 2010. We've added a couple more people recently to help us in all our of projects. It's been a challenge, but I know we can handle it.

"Down Under" Character Introduction

I would like to introduce my character cast for my main cartoon, "Down Under". I have lots of ideas that I would love to use them in. If you want a summarized description of the show/pitch, I'd say it is an Australian version of "Tiny Toon Adventures". My I use my characters in many medias: comics, drawings, animations, stories, etc.

I love animals, Australia, and cartoons. My favorite animal of all is the Thylacine, or Tasmanian Tiger. You can learn more about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacine . I love all the different types of marsupials and other rare and unique animals Australia has to offer.

My characters are based off my favorite wild animals, even though there are a few domestic ones too. To me, they are like my children. Each one has their own personality, likes and dislikes, skills, and so forth. A few of them are based off of people that I have known from the past and some I may currently still know. That is one way I've developed their personalities and attitudes. I have written bios for all of them, except a couple, because they are the newest characters.

Comic(s) of the Week! 12/7/2009

I would like to do a "Comic of the Week" every Monday. I'll feature a comic that I've drawn over time...

I started doing comics towards the end of 2008. In the first few ones, I was focused more on the joke than the drawings, but I started to put more thought in the detail early this year.

So here are the first few, less detailed, comics I started out doing:

Preview

This is a blog for my production company...I'll be explaining current school projects and displaying photos, drawings, comics, animations, and videos that I've over the past four years.

I will also be writing up stories for my characters, both "Down Under" and "Adventures of Manny & Mindy" shows, along with some...well...interesting dreams that I've had and written down in a journal.

Right now I want to give a preview of a few my digital and traditional drawings (I will give descriptions of them in future postings):
