I hate "month"-days...

The month of February through the middle of March are my least favorite times of the year. Everything seems to not go well. I'm just frustrated in what to do with my talent and how to do it... I would like to offer commissions somehow, but I'm also wanting to start a comic strip for the newspaper, or at least have a one on the web that people would like.

I'm asking God to help me in figuring out what to do with my drawing abilities that would bring honor to him. I have a christian cartoon show idea that I would like to do, however I'm debating whether to make it stop-motion, or 3D animation. It's called"The Adventures of Manny and Mindy". Here are some concepts of the characters I have so far:

Here's my description of the show:
(Concept below copyrighted to OVDUP)
It'll be a 3D animated (CG or Stop-motion) Christian children show, somewhat similar to how the Veggietales series were done...

The concept title right now is "The Adventures of Manny & Mindy". A possible theme music would be from an old hymn "Our Great Savior". Each episode would have a life lesson, and there would be singing in it. I would like to have at least one classic hymn in each episode the characters can use to relate to the lesson being taught at that time.

The main character is a banded mongoose, named Manny, 8 yrs old, who wears a red shirt & baseball cap. He's got a younger sister, Mindy, 4 yrs old, who wears a purple shirt and has a pony tail with a purple braid. Maddie, is a brush-tailed rock wallaby who is Manny's best friend and helps him out when he needs it.
(END CONCEPT)

I've still got to figure out how to put it all together and present it...

Comic of the Week 2/8/2010 -- Catching up...

This week, I've been very slow getting around to things like drawing, building things, and practicing some animation techniques. I've got school work & projects to do; then there other things to tend to. I do give myself breaks and play some video games. I'll be on PS3 & Wii, most of the time.

Valentine's Day is this Sunday...I currently enjoy being single, but I'm still praying to God and searching for the right girl for me. I know he'll bring me to her or vice-versa, and if I keep my heart right, I'll realize that she is the one.

Thoughtless Comic: Original Posting 8/27/2009

J.Q., walks in backwards, then becomes forward with D.G. about his feelings for her.
How embarrassing...poor J.Q., but why does D.G. have to be so violent about it?
I suppose public places include "purple bumpy" alternate dimensions! I'm sure she'll get over it...

Comic of the Week 2/1/2010--Integris Project Update

A few of the Rose State video game and animation students, including me, are creating a project for cancer patients at the Integris Baptist Hospital Cancer Research Center. The planning of the project has been going very slowly, but I believe we finally have an idea on what to do.

First of all we'll be focusing on the Virtual Tour first. We're creating a shooting script for areas and sections inside the medical building to show to new patients. In that way, they can get a feel of what to expect when they first arrive to the hospital. We will be making it in Adobe Flash CS3/CS4 so it will be more web friendly. More details later on...

Afterward, we will be working on a "Cancer Blaster" game for the younger patients. This will be coded in XNA and it can be played either on the Xbox 360, or the PC. More details later on...

Then we will go back to the Virtual Tour and convert it into a scavenger hunt game. More details later on...

We are also making a card game along side these other projects. I suppose the gameplay would be similar to the Magic cards. Personally, I have no clue how to play it, but we've got people who understand the rules and are working on it all.

We are planning to have the virtual tour and a prototype of the card game completed by March 22nd.

Anyways, here's another comic I did a while back. Click the picture to view it larger.

Movie Mix-Up Comic: Original Posting: 5/1/2009

J.Q. finds a collectible video at a yard sale and wants to show it off to his friends (which most don't like B+ movie riffs). He definitely should have not trusted the VHS sleeve...(FYI: nickelodeon made orange VHS tapes!)

R.P. can cope with the swith-a-roo, but Kara knew best...

Dale the Denim Cow series

Well, I'm starting to write down some ideas for story books and comic strips. I've have running gag comics involving Riley Paige (R.P.), the youngest of the "Down Under" cast. She has an overactive imagination and loves to share her stories to the other characters. Currently, she's been talking about her adventures with her imaginary friend, Dale the Denim Cow.

Dale is basically a cow that wears a denim jacket, and hangs out on an island with a magical kitten, named Meowzers, and a green unicorn, named Marley. It is unclear if they are friends or foes to Dale. R.P. loves to be around Dale, most of the time. However, somtimes, it will lead to trouble...

Below are the three "Imaginary Friend" comics so far. There will also be an illustration of Dale, w/ other characters, soon.

7 year-olds have some interesting imaginations...

J.Q. takes advantage of it too...

This is the first appearance of R.P. in a non-flash comic, so she's a bit sketchy...Plus she's got a shirt on than her original dress.

It's an imagination within an imagination! It just blows your mind!

This time Coty's the victim...

It kind of makes you wonder how R.P. comes up with all these stories...

Dale HATES anything made out of corduroy...especially if Carl has something to do with it!

Plus, Marley & Meowzers are cops...

ORIGINAL POSTING: 9/19/2009

R.P. meets a friend of mine's character, Chillie (who is a Chinchilla), and decides to tell her about...who else but DALE!!!

And we meet yet another textile fiend, Perry, who, in fact, is a perronoid puppy**. Maybe he's the beginning of their beastly rein on Canine Island?

Plus, Meowzers the Magical Kitten finally gets to test out his teleportation powers with Marley!

Test for R.P. with white belly-fur, but I'm sticking with black.

Just for the record: "Laundry Day is a very dangerous day..."--Rocko Wallaby

**NOTE: Perronoyds will be explained in a future blog...

COMIC OF THE WEEK 1/18/2010--Plus a few other notes...

School finally starts tonight. I'll be taking 3D Design, again. It will be taught different than last time I took it. Two of my classes got canceled, which I'm pretty upset about. One was Digital Photography. I really really wanted to take that up, but no one else signed up for it. I hope it'll come through this next 8 weeks.

This may be my final semester at Rose if the bachelor's program doesn't get accepted. I may have to take a break from school if that happens... Possibly coming back again whenever it starts. I am planning on starting a business up hopefully this summer. I am writing up children's book stories & ideas for my "Down Under" Characters. I hopefully will have a draft and some concept sketches for one book by May or so.

Other media I'm looking at would be drawing some comic strips with the "Down Under" cast. I'm starting a journal for ideas and the draw them out later. I am also considering going into stop-motion animation. I'd like to use it to create a pilot show for my second cartoon idea, "Adventures of Manny and Mindy."

I would also like to market my animal photos, both regular, and poster size, but I need some guidance on where to start. So if anyone has advice, please let me know!

Addicting Game Comic: Original Posting 4/16/2009

Peggle is a frustrating game...but it's so addicting!

J.Q. takes it way too seriously though. Pedro tries to talk some sense into him.
He's such a good Russian Chihuahua!
